There should be a name for the science of using common household items in many different ways. People tend to experiment with all kinds of things, and discover such unexpected ideas as using banana peels to shine their houseplants or using olive oil to unstick a zipper.

Car wax formulations traditionally contain a variety of waxes: carnauba wax and beeswax as well as natural oils and sometimes petroleum distillates. Special polymers and resins are used in newer formulas to harden the wax and enhance shine.

Protect and Shine Household Appliances

Get rid of fingerprints once and for all by rubbing a small amount of car wax on kitchen appliances; let it dry, then buff the surfaces with a clean, soft cloth. It will disappear any ugly scratches and repel fingerprints. Try it on the sink faucets to make them shine brightly.

Polish Granite Counters

If your lovely granite or marble counters are beginning to look just a tad unlovely and used, polish them with a bit of car wax. It’ll not only fill any fine scratches, but it will gloss it up as if it were new.
